Comilla is a big district in Chittagong division, Bangladesh. Comilla located in south-eastern Bangladesh, along with tha Dhaka-Chittagong highway.
Comilla, as a district, is usually administrated by a Deputy Commissioner (DC), who is an official government of the district. However, civil society has pretty strong voice and movement in Comilla. The DC office is located at Fauzdari area of the town on the east side of Dharmasagar. The District of Comilla has been divided into sixteen Thanas, namely Comilla Adarsa Sadar, Comilla Sadar South, Debidwar, Muradnagar, Hoamna, Laksham, Daudkandi, Barura, Burichang, Chandina, Titas, Langolkot, Meghna, Chauddagram, Brahmanpara and Manohargonj.
The main town of Comilla is under the Sadar Thana. Comilla Cantonment is one of most imperative military bases and is the oldest in East Bengal. It was extensively used by the British Indian Army during World War II. There is a war cemetery in Comilla and that was established after the Second World War to keep in mind the associated soldiers who died during World War I and II, frequently from Commonwealth states and the United States. There are a number of Japanese soldiers were buried.
Comilla also has an Export Processing Zone (EPZ) at the east end of the town, established on the former site of an airport. At this moment only the airstrip at a standstill exists, whereas other organizations have been rehabilitated to apparatus of the EPZ. It is one of the first mounting EPZ in Bangladesh.
Second World War warrior’s graveyards are in this Cemetery. These graves in this cemetery of the enormous soldiers who died in the world war from1939 to 1945 in Comilla areas. In this well-preserved cemetery at a quiet and charming place within the city lie covered in everlasting tranquility over 400 defense force from British, India, Japan, and Myanmar, who laid down their lives on the Myanmar front for the duration of the World War II. Every year a number of tourists come here to visit this Cemetery.
There are many renowned historical and archeological places in the region of Comilla. There are series of hills, where the Northern part is called Moinamoti and the Southern part is called Lalmai; and Shalbon Vihara is in the Middle of Lalmai and Moinamoti, King Buddadev established these places in the 8th century.
Another charming place Maynamoti museum – it is a historical things found in Lalmai & Moinamoti of 7th & 8th centuries. The Maynamoti site Museum has rich and varied collection of copper plates, gold and silver coins and 86 bronze objects. Over 150 bronze statues have been recovered mostly from the monastic cells, bronze stupas, stone sculptures and hundreds of terracotta plaques each measuring on an average of 9″ high and 8″ to 12″ wide.

Shah Shuja is not acknowledged to have made wide-ranging invasions, though he materializes to have sent operations against Hijli and Tippera. Bahadur Khan, a customary dissenter, feint Hijli (Medinipur district of West Bengal) in the southwestern angle of Bengal. In Shuja’s time he postponed payment of revenues; Shah Shuja took punctual action. Bahadur Khan was conquered, but he acquired a pardon by promising to pay more revenues than before.
Shah Shuja‘s war with Tippera is mentioned in the Rajmala, the traditional history of the kings of Tippera. The Raja was defeated, but he made peace by ceding a slice of his territory bordering on modern Comilla. Shah Shuja memorialized his victory by building a mosque, which is still in existence in good circumstance and bears his name, on the bank of the river Gumti near Comilla town.
