Taj Mahal of Bengal:
Taj Mahal located at Perab village in Sonargaon Upazila of Narayanganj district, 33 km away from Dhaka. It is built like the Taj Mahal in Agra, the Seven Wonders of the World. Construction of this Taj Mahal began in 2003 and it is completed in December 2008. It is made by Bangladeshi film maker Mr. Ahsanullah Moni. It’s coat US$56 Million to build this Taj Mahal. Mr Ahsan Visited the Taj Mahal in India in 1980. From then on, his plan was to one day build the Taj Mahal in Bangladesh according to an Agra’s Taj Mahal. Mr.Ahsan is using the same marble stone to build the Taj Mahal that is in the original Taj Mahal. Inside, the graves of Ahsanullah Moni and his wife Razia are preserved. Like the original Taj Mahal, it has a main building in the middle and four large minarets at the four corners. There is a water fountain in front of the Taj mahal and a flower garden all around. Around the Taj Mahal, various handicraft items, jamdani saaris, earthenware and other products have been developed.
Rajmoni Pyramid:
Near the Taj Mahal, the Pyramid is modeled after the Egyptian Pyramid, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The area of the Pyramid is like a park. There are shooting spots, 150-seat cinema halls and seminar room, old-fashioned movie-making equipment, Behula’s Basor Ghar (Behula’s living room), old car, Khudiram’s hanging stage etc. Inside the Pyramid are 7 mummies and the costumes, ornaments and utensils of the Kings & Queens.
Ticket Price: Entrance fee for Taj Mahal & Pyramid is TK.150. It is open daily from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm.
How to go to Taj Mahal & Pyramid:
You have to take any bus going to Cumilla, Daudkandi or Sonargoan on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway and get off at Madanpur Bus Stand. From there you can rent a CNG to reach the Taj Mahal.
Where to eat:
There are some food hotels around the Taj Mahal and Pyramid. But the quality of food there is not good. Inside the Taj Mahal is the air-conditioned Rajmoni Film City Restaurant. The restaurant has good quality food. Below are some of the menu items of this restaurant-
