Sajek Valley with clouds - Queen of Hills in Rangamati

Now a day’s Sajek Valley is the most popular tourist spot in Bangladesh. Sajek is a hilly area in Rangamati district.  It is known as the roof of Rangamati & queen of hills.

Its located among the hills of the Kasalong range in Baghaichhari , Rangamati. The Valley is situated in 1800 feet above sea level. Usually people go there via Khagrachhari because of easy travelling system. It is located about 67 km northeast of Khagrachhari town, while it is 95 km northwest of Rangamati city. The valley gets its name from the Sajek River. The Sajek river works as a border between Bangladesh and India (Mizoram state).

Sajek is famous for its own natural beauty. It’s surrounded by lofty hills, dense forest, grasslands and miles & miles of hilly tracks. The road to Sajek is in the peak of the hill. Roads are like big snake spirals mountains. At the peak of Sajek valley, you will see clouds are spinning around you. This hilly valley beauty will make you feel the view of heaven on earth. The weather of Sajek changes frequently sometimes clouds, sometimes rain and sometimes bright Sun. Most attractions of the spot are sunset, rain, morning, evening & night and also aborigine people. You can visit Sajek all around the year. Basically, Sajek is a small beautiful town on the hill. It consists of 2 para. One is Ruiluipara & the other is Konglakpara.

Main spots to visit at Sajek Valley –

Ruiluipara: Ruiluipara is basically the Sajek valley.

Helipad: There is a helipad on the Valley. People come the helipad to enjoy the natural beauty and also walk here, gossip each other or sing loudly. From here Sunset & Sunrise can be seen very beautiful.

Konglakpara: Konglakpara is on konglak hill. To go Konglakpara you have to trek 40-50 minutes from Ruiluipara. You must have to climb a large high hill to reach at the peak of Konglak hill. Actually, from the peak of Konglak hill you will get the experience of heaven view.

Marishsha valley: Marishsha a place near Sajek and more beautiful view you will get then the Sajek. This place is like a hilly village. Most of the houses is made of bamboo.

Konglak Jhorna: Konglok jhorna or Pidam Toisa jhorna is very difficult to reach. The road from Ruiluipara to Konglak jhorna is very slippery and hard to trek as it is 80 to 85 degrees vertical in some areas of the hill.

How to go Sajek?

By bus you can go to Khagrachhari from Dhaka. Many bus companies are provided services of traveling Dhaka to Khagrachhari such as Eagle, S.Alam, Shyamoli, Shanti, Saudia etc Paribahan ‘s (Non AC). The non AC bus fare is around TK. 550 to TK. 600. BRTC & Saint Martin Paribahan have the AC bus service in this route. The AC bus fare is TK. 1000 to TK. 1200 per parson.

After Reaching at Khagrachhai, you have to reserve Chander Gari to go to Sajek Valley . The cost of Chander Gari for 2 days & 1 night is Tk. 8000 to TK. 10000 based on size of car and number of people (10 to 15). But if you are in a small group of 3 to 5 person you can take CNG. The cost to hire CNG is TK. 4000 to 5000. If you are unable reserve Chander Gari from Khagrachhari, then you need to go Dighinala. It is 23 KM away from Khagrachhari . It takes 45 Taka per person on the bus and 100 taka per person in a motorcycle. Chander Gari , CNG etc are available in Dighinala.

Where do you stay?

There are so many beautiful resorts and cottages in Sajek Ruiluipara and Konglakpara, they are- Sajek Resort, Runmoy Resort, Sajek Hill View Resort, Megh punji Resort, Megh machang Resort,Alo Resort, Abakash Eco Cottage Resort, Megh Kabbo hilltop Cottage, Chayanir Eco resort etc. Bangladesh Army & Bangladesh Border Guard are controlling those resorts. Sajek Resort and Runmoi Resort are only two army supervised resort. According to your budget you will find both cheap and expensive options to stay in those resorts and cottages.

Food & Drink

In Sajek Bamboo shoots is very popular food.Rice,Chickens, Bamboo chickens ,vegetables , pulses, Paratha, pork are available here. There are some halal restaurants for the Muslims. If you want, you can arrange Bar-B-Q at night. Sajek is also famous for bamboo tea. There are so many cafes/tea stalls in Sajek. Biscuits, cakes, coffee, banana, different snacks etc are also sold here in a bit costly. Papaya, Pineapple & Banana are very cheap here.
