Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park is one of the largest Safari Park in Asia. This Park is located in Mauna Union in Sreepur Upazila of Gazipur. This park is 3 km west of Bagher Bazar on Dhaka Mymensingh highway and 40 km north of Dhaka. The 3810 acre park has an observation center for viewing from above. Gazipur Safari Park, modeled on Thailand’s Safari World was launched in 2013. One of the attractions of this Safari Park is the Core Safari. There are Tigers, Lions, Giraffes and other animals are walking around and you can see them in the minibus.  This Park is home to 50 species of animals and 28 species of birds. The total population of animals and birds is about 2000-3000.

This park is divided into 5 parts. They are-

  1. The Core of Safari
  2. Safari Kingdom
  3. Biodiversity Park
  4. An Extensive Asian &
  5. Bangabandhu Safari Park Square.

The Core of Safari: The Core Safari consists of 1217 acres of land. The Core of Safari is divided into many parts. They are­- African Safari, Deer Safari, Black Safari, White Lion Safari, Lion Safari and Tiger Safari. No tourists can entry here without jeep or minibus. There are 2 jeeps and 2 minibuses here for tourist. Tourist can see the wildlife left in the natural environment by jeep or minibus. There are-Tigers, Lions, Black Bears, African Cheetahs, Chitra Deer, Sambar, Hyenas, White Lions, Zebras, Giraffes etc here. Those animals can also be captured on camera from inside the minibus at the Core Safari Park.

Safari Kingdom: Safari Kingdom covers an area of 556 acres in the Safari Park. The Safari Kingdom is divided into many parts. They are- Macau Land, Parrot Aviary, Marine Aquarium, Carp Garden, Crown Pheasant and Hornbill Aviary. Macau Land & Parrot Aviary built on 556 acres. There are about 34 species of birds (Golden Macaws, Green Macaws, African Gray Parrots, Tia, Pelicans & Lutino Ringneck Parrots) in Macau Land & Parrot Aviary. Marine Aquarium has 20 species of fish (Crocodile Fish, Tiger Fish, Hidden Black Goose etc).

There is also a Butterfly Safari. There are about 26 species of butterflies in Butterfly Safari. The Crown Pheasant is a land where there are peacocks is in a biggest cage. This place is the most beautiful place in the Safari Park. There are more than 100 small & large peacocks in this cage. There are also Orchid House, Vulture and Owl Corner, Egg World, Kangaroo Land, Elephant Show Gallery, Crocodile Gallery in Safari Kingdom. There are also a Hanging Bridge is in the western part of the Safari Park.

Bangabandhu Safari Park Square: Bangabandhu Safari Park Square has been created on 36 acres of land of Safari Park. Parking area, park and administrative buildings are located in here. There are also main gate, fountains and lakes decorated with interesting murals and models. Near the administrative buildings you will get to see display maps, park office, information centers, rest rooms, eco resorts etc.

Ticket Price:

The entry fee to the park is TK.50 for per adult, TK.20 for per student and 5 US dollars for per foreign tourists. A group of 40 to 100 students on an educational tour ticket price is Tk.400 & the group is more than 100 ticket price is TK.800 for all. Core Safari & Safari Kingdom entry fee TK.100+100=200 per person.

Bus parking price is TK.200. Minibus & microbus parking is TK.200. Car Parking is Tk.60.

The Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park is open every day except Tuesday (Weekly Holiday) from 9 am to 5 am.

How to go?

If you take a bus from Mohakhali in Dhaka to Sreepur, Bhaluka or Mymensingh, cross the Gazipur Courasta, you will see a huge signboard of the Safari Park at Bagher Bazar. Rickshaws or auto-rickshaws will take TK.20-40 to go from Bagher Bazar to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park.

Where to stay?

You can visit this park in the morning and come back in the afternoon or evening. If you want to stay in the park restroom, you have to book a room in advance. There are some restrooms in the park for overnight stays.

Food & Drink:

This Safari Park has huge observation restaurants. They are- Tiger Restaurant & Lion Observation Restaurant. Sitting in these restaurants, you can see Lions & Tigers through the glass and eat.

Note:

  1. If you want to see the whole park, you need all day so it is best if you leave early in the morning. Than you can comfortably walk around all the day and see all the parts.
  2. You can’t enter the park with any food from outside.
  3. Do not get out of the moving vehicle while visiting Tigers and Lions.
  4. Follow the warning message where it is written.
  5. Stay away from wild cages.
  6. Refrain from feeding wildlife.
